Dances/Tänze
The courses will reconstruct ballroom dances of the 19th century: both couple and formation dances. These were very popular in the great ballrooms of Vienna, Paris, Prague, Dresden and Boston. Newly reconstructed quadrilles, waltzes, polka and mazurka dance forms of the 19th century will be rehearsed in the course and will be danced during the Grand Ball with festive attire.

Zu den Kursen werden BallTänze des 19.Jahrhunderts einstudiert, die beliebt waren in den großen Tanzsälen von Wien, Paris, Prag, Dresden und Boston. Neu rekonstruierte Quadrillen und Walzer-, Polka- sowie Mazurka- Paartanzformen des 19. Jahrhunderts werden in den Kursen unterrichtet und zum Grand Ball in festlicher Kleidung getanzt, musikalisch begleitet von Orchester und Solisten.

Instructors/Dozenten
Sylvia Hartung, Germany – She researches, reconstructs and teaches vintage and modern dances from Europe and North America and is an expert in German and Viennese couple and quadrille dances of the 19th century. She organizes ball events off the era of the musician Johann Strauß, including the great quadrilles. In the course she will teach couple dances and a newly reconstructed Quadrille of her original 19th century dance books. - Language in the classes: German and English

Richard Powers, US - He is currently a full-time instructor at Stanford University and is one of the world's foremost experts in American social dance. He has been researching and reconstructing contemporary and historic social dances for thirty years. He is a popular dance teacher also in Europe and Japan. In the course he will teach ballroom dances - vintage dances - of the classic 19th century. - Language in the classes: English

Sylvia Hartung aus Deutschland – Sie erforscht, rekonstruiert und unterrichtet Ball-Tänze des 19. und 20. Jahrhunderts aus Europa und Nordamerika und ist Expertin auf dem Gebiet deutscher und Wiener Salontänze der Johann-Strauß-Ära. Sie veranstaltet in verschiedenen Städten Ballnächte im Stile des großen Walzer-, Quadrille-, und Opernball-Jahrhunderts und wird zum Kurs neben Paartänzen eine neu rekonstruierte Quadrille aus einem ihrer originalen Tanzbücher des 19. Jahrhunderts anbieten. - Unterrichtssprache deutsch und englisch

Richard Powers aus den USA – Er unterrichtet und choreographiert Tanz an der Stanford University und ist einer der weltweit bekanntesten Experten des amerikanischen Ball- und Salontanzes des 19. bis 20. Jahrhundert. Er betreibt seit 30 Jahren Tanzforschung und Rekonstruktion von Paar- und Formationstänzen und gibt weltweit Tanzunterricht. Er wird Salontänze des stilvollen 19. Jahrhunderts im Kurs anbieten. - Unterrichtssprache englisch
