Visit to Danson House

Description

The 27th EDC Festival takes us to Ravens Wood School, Bromley, which gives us reasonable access for a Sunday morning visit to Danson House near Bexleyheath.

The weekend starts on Friday, at 6.30 p.m., in Ravens Wood School, Oakley Road, Bromley, with a Light Supper. NB: This must be ordered in advance.

At 7.45 p.m. Helen McCook of The Royal School of Needlework will present an illustrated talk on Tudor embroidery techniques. Though now working freelance, Helen was Head of Costume and Textiles at Bonham's Auction House where she developed her expertise in sixteenth and seventeenth century costume.

Saturday’s Festival will take place in the Ravens Wood School Hall and run from 2 p.m. to 5.45 p.m. This will be preceded by the AGM at 1.15. Please find a moment to join your committee and share your thoughts on the running of your society and its plans for Big Dance, 2012.

As well as the usual group and solo demonstrations, the Festival will also include the now standard three sessions of general dancing.

Tables will be available for those who wish to sell their products. These must be booked in advance and a fee of £5.00 paid at the time of booking your table.

Saturday Lunch must be ordered in advance. Please fill in the relevant part of the Form, clearly indicating your choice of Vegetarian or Non-Vegetarian food.

Light refreshments will be available for purchase throughout the day.

Saturday Evening will start with supper at 6.30 p.m. This must also be booked in advance. Please fill in the relevant part of the form, again indicating your choice of Vegetarian or Non-Vegetarian food.

After the meal, we will enjoy an evening of ‘Eighteenth Century Country Dancing’ when the MC will be Ellis Rogers, accompanied by the ever-popular Green Ginger. No costume is required.

Sunday morning offers Tour of Danson House, a Palladian villa constructed around 1764-67. The house stands in a spacious park, which boasts a 12 acre lake to the south of the house. Our tour has been booked for 11.30am. Please fill in the requisite part of the Booking Form.

Information on B&Bs will be sent with your tickets – an additional reason for booking early!
