The Feuillet notation for baroque dances is not always easy to read. Especially beginners have difficulties to understand the plentitude of lines and dots and hooks in the choreographies.
Today, i received a mail from Peter Hoffmann. He tried to facilitate things. As a solution to this difficulties he created a 30 page document that explains the notation step by step. He covers topics such as
- how the dancer's movement within the space is described
- how the feet's position is notated
- what the meaning of all the little hooks and dots and lines within the steps is (glissé, tombé etc.)
- and how the steps such as the Sisonne or the pas de Menuet are constructed from rather simple smaller steps
The guide is created in an visually attractive fashion and it is freely available. It is available in English and in German. It does not contain much text and the graphics are rather self-describing.
I really like it. Thanks to Peter for providing the guide.
