Rome (Italy)- May 28-29, 2011
The workhop is open to dancers and actors. Total teaching time will be 12 hours. A maximum number of 28 participants will be admitted.
Program
The Nuova e curiosa scuola de' balli theatrali (1716) by Gregorio Lambranzi is a unique document in dance history, in particular because of the precious testimony about Commedia dell'Arte. The plates by Johann Georg Puschner, that illustrate the balli as if taken directly from the stage, combine with melodies and short scenarios in visual puzzles used by Lambranzi to connect the dance-technical and dramaturgical aspects which contribute to the invention of a theatrical dance.
The workshop combines practical an theoretical lessons with the aim to read Lambranzi's pictures as concrete information. Well known Commedia dell'Arte characters like Pulcinella and Scaramuccia will be taken as examples of this splendid technique of theatre art. On the basis of prepared structures every participant to the workshop will be invited to find his own way of interpretation.
