For 2011 DHDS is introducing the concept of multi-period summer schools, with 3 classes on offer: Cecília's baroque ballroom dance, Jørgen's overview of baroque ballroom dance and Anne's focus on the social dance of Austen's time.
All classes are intermediate, i.e. for dancers with some experience. If you are unsure which class to join or whether a class is for you, please contact the Summer School Administrator.
Afternoon workshops (optional) provide further choice. Teachers will offer one topic in two 1½ hour sessions and students can sign up in advance. Cecília will work at advanced level to cater for specialists; Jørgen will offer a beginner's introduction to baroque dance; Anne will provide a workshop on the Sailor's Hornpipe that students can pursue at their own level.
On Wednesday evening, we look forward to a new event, An Evening in Chichester Assembly Rooms, Regency dances in a magnificent period setting.
Other evening activities will include social dancing, an informal concert and a ball on the final evening, providing a setting for the performance of class dances.
Teachers' class packs will contain dance instructions.
The bookshop offers a selection of CDs and copies of the Society's publications.
