Baroque Academy 2012

The Baroque Academy is a series of Baroque dance workshops organized by the Cracovia Danza Court Ballet in collaboration with the French Académie de Saison Sablé of the L’Eventail Baroque Dance Company which is engaged in educating professional dancers from France and around the world.

The unique programme of the Académie de Saison Sablé is going to take place in Poland for the first time ever. It has been designed for professional dancers, dance pedagogues and "belle dance" technique specialists. The workshops will be conducted by top-notch Baroque dance expert Marie-Geneviève Massé.

The workshops will be further complemented by lectures on the subject of Baroque Theatre and European Art History of the 17th and 18th centuries.

The Baroque Academy will be devoted to the study and mastering of the basic steps of Baroque dance and original choreographies from the repertoire of the Paris Opera. The course will finish with a dance presentation held in front of the audience.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

1. PARTICIPANTS

The Baroque dance workshops held within the Baroque Academy are aimed at participants with an advanced level of Baroque dance skills and/or professional dancers in the classical dance technique.

2. WORKSHOP PROGRAMME*

July 23rd-27th, 2012 – Baroque dance classes conducted by MARIE-GENEVIÈVE MASSÉ

July 28th, 2012 – lectures delivered by: dr Marta Folzer (France), prof. Marek Dębowski (Jagiellonian University, Poland)
----------------- 05.00 PM – official closing of the Baroque Academy and the final presentation by its participants

4. WORKSHOP SCHEDULE

30 hours: classes for 5 days between 10.00 AM - 01.00 PM and 03.00 PM - 06.00 PM
