Dance Technique – Notation – Reconstruction -- Repertoire – Costumes
This Summer workshop for dancers, choreographers, teachers and researchers can be part of the training in Baroque Dance leading the International Certification by the International Council CID UNESCO, Paris. Participation is not limited to CID-members. It will take place in the Dora-Stratou-Theatre, an open-air garden theatre on the pine-tree covered Philopappou Hill in the centre of Athens. The training contains dance classes of 4 hours every morning. On most days there will be offered optional afternoon lessons (introduction and exercises of dance notation, analysing baroque dance music, lecture demonstrations, costumes and behaviour at court and on stage). On Wednesday participants will have the chance to watch a performance of the well-known Dora Stratou Dance Theatre of Athens (The Living Museum of Greek Dance) and its fine collection of folk costumes, jewellery and accessoires.
Dates: Monday 3rd until Friday 7th September 2012 , Total of teaching hours: 30. The workshop may be attended on a 2 ½-day basis: Mon-Wed/morning or Wed/afternoon-Friday. Opening meeting: 3rd Sept., 16.00, in the training hall of the theatre. Lecture daily 16.30-18.00, dance class 9.00-11.00 (Tue, Wed, Thu) and 19.00-22.00 (exc. Wednesday). Farewell-Party: Friday, 22.00

Certification of Instruction in Historical Dance provided by CID after completion of 150 hours (only for CID-members). CID-membership fee: 55 €/year. More information: www.cid-portal.org
Levels: Advanced beginners and advanced. Module I: 17th and 18th centuries: Baroque (French Court and Theatre Dance) and Late Baroque and Rococo/Classical Period
Fee: 150 € for the week, including tuition only (100 € for CID-members). Only Greek students: If you are unable to pay the fee, you may offer any goods or services to the instructor (e.g. dance or language lessons, interesting food products – apply to the IHT Ingo Guenther for details).

The Institute of Historical Dance (IHT) Ingo Guenther was founded in 1996. It provides lessons, workshops, performances and lecture-demonstrations on historical dances from 14th to 19th cent. It has provided regular workshops, lectures and performances (with BarockTanzEnsemble contretem(p)s-berlin) in adult education, in high schools and music schools, at universities and festivals of Early Music for over 24 years.
