The 14th ‘Cracovia Danza’ Court Dance Festival will be held between July 28th and August 4th 2013.
The ‘Cracovia Danza’ Court Dance Festival is a unique event on the cultural map of both Krakow and Poland, initiated by Romana Agnel, the Festival's Artistic Director.
Court dance, theatre and music performed against the arresting background of the City's historic buildings is surely one of the best attractions Krakow has to offer to tourists, residents, lovers of court culture and audiences of all ages.
Organized for the first time in the year 2000 to mark the granting of the title of ‘European Capital of Culture’ to Krakow, the Festival has been held in the heart of the Malopolska region every August ever since.
Within the framework of the week-long Festival, court dance workshops taught by top-rated specialists of world renown, as well as thematic exhibitions, lectures, concerts and presentations are held at the Renaissance Villa Decius. This venue is also the seat of the Festival's co-organizer, the Villa Decius Association.
The Grand Finale takes place within the spaces of the Main Market Square, the Old Town and Wawel Hill. It brings viewers through a showcase of professional and amateur ensembles from all over the world, as well as the Decius Danza workshop groups. Krakow City Centre becomes reinvigorated with colourful court parades and all the public is welcome to join in the Grand Finale Ball in Krakow's Main Market Square.
In the evening the Arcaded Courtyard of Royal Wawel Castle becomes the main stage for performances put on by guest artists and the ‘Cracovia Danza’ Court Ballet.
