Course Content
This five-day course will cover the technique and presentation of Baroque dance and is designed for all levels from the absolute beginner to the professional dancer. No previous dance experience is necessary, although any knowledge of other dance forms will enable you to pick up the steps more easily.
Those new to Baroque dance will be taught basic steps, patterns, and musical rhythms, with opportunities for talks on the history, costume and context of the dances. More advanced students will be taught according to their level, with opportunities to work in more detail on their basic technique as well as on more challenging material.
Classes will run Monday to Friday, 9:30–5:00, with evenings free, and a break for lunch. Note that lunch is not provided; there are restaurants and grocery stores nearby.
Partial Attendance
Participants are welcome to attend the workshop for a few days. However it is suggested that, if possible, complete beginners attend from the beginning of the course, when there will be more opportunities to look in detail at the basic steps and elements of style. Please contact Judy if you wish to discuss this.
