Grand Regency Ball

'The Mirror Room in the Palace of Versailles is the most beautiful room in the world. The great aristocratic families of Europe took up the idea for their grandest palaces. None more thoroughly than the noble house of Festetics for their palace in the charming town of Keszthely on the shore of lake Balaton, Hungary, which was built in 1745. Now you can have the pleasure of dancing in this most beautiful Mirror Room of the Palace.

The Grand Regency Ball is inspired by the writing of Jane Austen and is the centre piece of a weekend of Regency costume events of the kind she enjoyed.'

Programme of events

 

Friday       Dance workshop in Palace

  Wine tasting (4 types of wine) & cold buffet dinner in Palace’s wine cellar

  Tour of the Palace at candle light led by costumed guides

 

Saturday   18th Century carriage rides to shores of lake Balaton

    Pleasure boat trip

    Afternoon tea in the park, accompanied by baroque music

    Grand Ball with dinner

 

Sunday       Optional trips to lake Balaton, watersports, swimming or

     Lake Heviz, unique volcanic lake in Europe
