‘The Coffee Ballet’ (J.S. Bach) falls within the tradition of ballets with fanciful and exotic subjects staged in the 17th and 18th centuries. Created on the basis of steps and figures of Baroque dance, as well as elements of the pantomime of the day, this humorous performance alludes to the fashion of drinking what was an original beverage at that time. Dancers perform in fantastic costumes reminiscent of parts of a coffee service whose shapes resemble, amongst others, the famous 18th century Dresden porcelain. February, 16th 2014 at 5PM
