In the mid nineteenth century, new quadrilles were choreographed all over Europe. The enormous number of new dances shows the popularity of these four-couple dances. The dancing masters tried to find new and surprising ways of making the dancers move in a square.
The Rokoko quadrille consists of the following six figures: Menuet, la Renaissance, la chaine jointe, la complication, la chaine double, la Bergère. Whereas the Minuet figures use a late Minuet step, the other figures are danced with the usual quadrille steps, but they combine very beautiful, unusual and inventive figures.
One or two easy dances of the period will complete the programme.
Price: Weekend ticket: £55 · One-day ticket: £30
