La Bourgogne - Suite (1697)

LA BOURGOGNE is the title of a small suite of dances (Courante - Bourée - Sarabande - Passepied) that has been composed by Louis Pécour, the well-known choreographer at the Court of Louis XIV. The reason for it's existence was a wedding ceremony at the French Court: The Duc de Bourgogne (grandson of Louis XIV and aged 15) married Adelaide the princess of Savoye, aged 12. The four dances are short and not too difficult. Bourée and Passepied can be realized as single dances to different music as I will show on the workshop. We will start with the step vocabulary and choreography of Sarabande and Passepied, leaving Courante and Bourée to be put in at the following workshop (May 16+17). If you can attend only one of the workshops, never mind, you will learn a couple dance for your repertoire (Le Passepied). :-) . -  Please note: Workshop times are: on Saturday, Feb 29th,  15:00-19:00, and on Sunday, Mar 1st, 10:00-14:00. The place of the workshop is the Theaterhaus Mitte, Berlin, Wallstr. 32. Fee: 55/35 Euro.
