The classes for beginners and improvers will cover fundamental elements of Beauchamp-Feuillet notation system and will include, depending on level of class, learning to recognise basic step-units and their variations as well as timings in typical dance rhythms such as sarabande, bourée, menuet and gigue. Short notated class sequences will be studied alongside simple and moderate extant Ballroom dances in a range of rhythms and complexity suitable for the class level.
Intermediate students will focus on consolidating their knowledge in order to easily read moderate level extant dances as well as widening their step vocabulary to include more complex step-units and variations in some of the more unusual dance rhythms such as chaconne, passacaille, loure and hornpipe. Dances, suitable for the class level, will be selected from Theatrical as well as Ballroom sources.
