Contredanse or Quadrille?
At the intersection of quadrille and contredanse, the German dance masters Häcker[1] and Länger[2] reveal a fascinating diversity of forms, with changing constellations of formations and sequences, even celebrating combinatorics. Despite their refinement, the conversational dances Triolette, Douze, and Contredanse are entirely in the spirit of conviviality.
