Englisch Sylvia Hartung reconstructs, choreographies and teaches social (ballroom) dances of the 19th and 20th century from Europe and North America since 2005. She has been carrying her research for the past 19 years, concentrating on waltzes, polkas, mazurkas, quadrilles and cotillions from 1800 to date, and particularly on the era of Johann Strauss and the Grand Balls. In 2006 and 2007 she obtained qualification as a teacher of modern standard dance, while working in her engineering profession.
