Come and join the Nonsuch Dancers this summer for a fully residential dance course. Learning alongside our professional company of dancers and actors dressed in period costumes; you will dance circle dances, line dances, ballroom dances, processions and patterns – connecting to different historical periods, with music, art, costume and evening dances.

Italy and dance - At the centre of our fourth Symposium is a passionate love story lasting many centuries - a theme which fascinated Barbara Sparti, one of the leading dance research­ers of the 20th century, throughout her life. We  have chosen to dedicate this Symposium to her memory.

A week-long dance and cultural programme, incorporating new material researched in Regency, 19th century, Ragtime, Jazz Age and Swing Era dances. Featuring Richard Powers, from Stanford University's Dance Division, and other workshop leaders from Fly Right Dance Company. 

Our programme is still being finalised, but here are some key highlights for you:

Sunday 3 August

Bi weekly court dance lessons, on saturdays or sundays (or both) given by Erwin Mulder at sporthal hogeveld in The Hague.

After a holiday break, we will continue in september with the lessons

An einem Wochenende werden fünf bis sechs historische Choreographien einstudiert: ein bis zwei Tänze aus der französischen oder italienischen Renaissance, ein Gesellschaftstanz aus der Barockzeit, zwei englische Country Dances aus der Zeit zwischen 1651 und dem Beginn des 19. Jahrhunderts sowie ein Balltanz aus dem 19. Jahrhundert. Jedes Kurswochenende ist in sich abgeschlossen und kann einzeln besucht werden. Die Kurse sind sowohl für Leute mit wenig Tanzerfahrung als auch für erfahrene Tänzerinnen und Tänzer geeignet. Eine Anmeldung als Paar ist nicht nötig.
