Maurizio Padovan

Musician, teacher and historical of dance. He was teacher of “History of dance and music for dance” at the Musicology Departement of University of Cremon - Pavia (Italy) and has participated in many international conventions.

Since 1989, was regular in Portugal as result of the invitations of the “Instituto de Estudos da Criança” of the University of Minho, the Portuguese Association of Musical Education , the Superior Education Schools, the Training Centers for teachers, to direct stages on dance and give lectures. Teaches the course of renaissance dance “The dance of the Duke” at the Duke’s Palace in Guimarães. Collaborated with José Sasportes (formar minister of culture of Portugal) in the editorial publication “La danza italiana” and in the book Storia della danza Italiana (2011).

Was the artistic director of the International Convention of Studies “Guglielmo Ebreo da Pesaro e la danza alle Corti italiane del XV secolo” (Pesaro, 1987). He is the author of the publication “A dança no ensino obrigatório” (2000) and “Dançar na Escola” (2010) edit by Fundação C. Gulbenkian (Lisbon), books and articles about history of dance, history of music and ethnomusicology.

Violinist, specialized in ancient instruments, is the artistic director of the ensemble “Accademia Viscontea” and the “Vioulinàires” of Milan, held music seminars, stages and hundreds of concerts in Italy and abroad (Spain, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Hungary, Singapore). Recorded CDs (Ducale, Paragon, Soulestrelh, Nuova Polifonica Ambrosiana, Robi droli, Madau Records, Ethnosuoni).

Is director of the project “L’Altro Violino” in Cremon. Specialized in traditional violin, is the author of the most important editorial publications and discography of the violin and violinists from Occitan Valleys of Italy.

Expert in medieval and Renaissance iconography was responsible for organizing various exhibitions such as Mesura et arte del danzare (Pesaro, 1987), L’Altro Violino (Cremon, 1997), Il Ballo del Duca (Prov. Urbino, 1998), Il Ballo del Cavaliere (Savona, 1999), Raudensis (Milan 2000), Vinum Bonum Vinum (Pavia, 2000) and also partecipated in Leonardo e gli spettacoli del suo tempo (Milan, 1983) and L’Età dei Visconti e degli Sforza (Milan, 2001). Since 1992 works with the Province of Milan in the project “La musica nella didattica”. Under this project held over 600 conferences/concerts for more then 70.000 students from the Higher Schools.
