Alaknanda Dasgupta

Indian Kathak dancer, founder and director of the Alaknanda Institute of Performing Arts. He comes from a family with rich musical traditions. She has received many awards, distinctions and titles, and her biographical note was included in "Asian Who's Who". One of her dance masters, or rather the first one (alongside Guru Munna Shukla and Swapnasundari), who had a huge influence on her (she was 6 years old at the time), is Pt. Birju Maharaj, representative of the legendary family of Kathak dancers. Choreographies Pt. Birju Maharaja introduced this technique to a new field of Kathak dance performances. He traveled around the world with his performances and workshops. Working and learning with Pt. Birju Maharajem allowed Alaknanda Bose to develop her stage techniques.
