Workshop

The 17th century in Spain saw the development of a distinct national style in dance, both sober and passionate, which remained popular even during the influx of French fashions in the 18th century. The technique is full of light leaps, and was created over some of the most irresistible music ever composed, like the folias, chacona and canarios.

During this course, we'll be studying variations from Jaque's Folias and Minguet's Impossibles, as well as sequences from Spanish traditional dance, such as the fandango. There will also be castanet work with some of the dances.

SIX DAYS COURSE, 4 hours every morning from 10am - 2pm

at the Sevilla Dance Conservatory dance studios

with a presentation day on afternoon Saturday in the theatre of the Conservatory for invited guests (This concert will be the inaugural event of the Acadanza Historica Congreso 2011 : Vice & Virtue / Vicio y Virtud, with academic papers and dance presentations being held on Monday 26 & Tuesday 27 September at the Casa de la Provincia, in Sevilla (next to the Cathedral). All students of Acadanza Historica can attend the conference for FREE).

In der Musik gibt es zahlreiche wunderschöne Folia-Kompositionen. Aber auch unter den im frühen 18. Jahrhundert notierten Tänzen finden sich Folia-Variationen, fast alle als Solochoreographien. Mit einigen davon wollen wir uns in diesem Workshop beschäftigen.
Für diesen Tanzworkshop ist Tanzerfahrung – vorzugsweise im Barocktanz - Voraussetzung.

Historic Ball

In the year 1811 Napoleon Bonaparte makes a trip to The Netherlands. In honour of his visit the Society Revérence organizes a grand ball in Chateau Marquette. All is in readiness: the chandeliers are lit, the orchestra is ready to play, the quests have arrived…..but where is the emperor?

Présentation
L'Association Rotruenge propose un long Week-End d'initiation ou perfectionnement aux danses du Moyen-Age, d'après l'antique transmission orale du savoir et du savoir-faire. Ces quatre journées se dérouleront sous forme d'ateliers dirigés par Christophe Deslignes et seront ponctuées de petites conférences sur les témoignages historiques: iconographie, traités, musiques et chroniques. Une démonstration des danses apprises aura lieu le Samedi à partir de 20h.
