Île Tatihou
Tatihou est une île côtière, au nord-est du Cotentin, située dans la rade de Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue. Le Fort Vauban construit en 1694 est classé au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO. À l'intérieur des fortifications se trouvent aussi une chapelle, une poudrière et une caserne devenue restaurant. L'ancien Lazaret, construit en 1720 pour éviter la propagation de la peste abrite le Musée maritime, un jardin botanique, un atelier de charpente navale et des bâtiments d'hébergement.

LA MER
Objectifs
Ce stage propose d'aborder les chansons, musiques et danses médiévales et traditionnelles liées au thème de la mer. L'élaboration en ateliers aboutira à un spectacle final qui sera donné le vendredi 4 Juillet en l'église de St-Vaast-la-Hougue. Chaque participant recevra un dossier comprenant la présentation du thème, les partitions, des fac-similés, des articles et une bibliographie.
L'objectif pédagogique est de sensibiliser les musiciennes et musiciens d'aujourd'hui aux différentes fonctions et expressions des musiques médiévales et traditionnelles, afin que chacun puisse donner un sens artistique à son action au sein d'un collectif.
Chaque participant pourra, selon ses connaissances et ses centres d'intérêt, s'initier ou parfaire une formation vocale, instrumentale ainsi que de danse dans les différents ateliers proposés (instruments modernes acceptés).
Organisation
Après l'échauffement, les matinées seront dédiées au travail en petits groupes avec chaque professeur séparément.
Les après-midi seront dédiées aux ateliers collectifs animés collégialement par tous les professeurs.

Concert des professeurs, conférence, animation danse.
LES ATELIERS
Vocal
Cantigas des amigo, Cantigas de Santa Maria, plain-chant et motets de l'École Notre-Dame avec Christophe Deslignes et Olivier Féraud. Chants maritimes et chants de manœuvres des XIX et XXème siècles avec Bernard Subert.
Intrumental
Atelier de hauts et bas instruments du Moyen-Âge. Ouvert aux joueurs d'instruments modernes, copies d'anciens, et traditionnels, initiation à la tradition orale des loculatores. Interprétation de formes instrumentales médiévales avec Olivier Féraud et Christophe Deslignes.
Vocal et Instrumental
En petits ensembles mixtes, mise en musiques et arrangements de musiques liées au thème de la mer avec les trois professeurs.
Théâtral
Narration, saynètes, et contes. Mise en scène et éclairages, avec Christophe Deslignes.
Danses
Travail sur les différentes possibilités de chorégraphier et reconstituer les musiques à danser du Moyen-Âge, avec Christophe Deslignes. Chansons à danser traditionnelles, avec Bernard Subert.
Fanfare
Une fanfare médiévale et traditionnelle sera constituée en début de stage avec tous les instruments adéquats, afin de participer aux différentes animations en déambulation.

Aims
The course will set out to stage a musical and theatrical adaptation of medieval and traditionnal music and dances about Seas and Oceans. Each participant will receive a kit including an outline of the story, sheet music and facsimiles of the selected compositions, articles and a bibliography.
The educational purpose of the course is to make present-day musicians more aware of the various forms and functions of the religious, popular and courtly music of the Middle Ages, helping them to bring their own musical contribution to a group endeavour.
Participants will be encouraged to discover or develop their vocal, instrumental and dance skills, on the basis of their personal knowledge and interests, in the various workshops on offer. Modern as well as traditional instruments are welcome.
Organisation
Mornings will devoted to practice in small groups with each of the teachers. In the afternoon, all the participants will work together with the teachers.
Programme for the week
Events during the week will include a teachers' recital, a lecture on the history of music, guided tours to places of historic interest, visits to wine cellars, outdoor dancing, musical parades through the village streets and one end-of-course performance.
The workshops
Voice
Exploring the monodic and polyphonic songs written about Seas and Oceans.
Medieval wind instruments
Open to musicians playing traditional (including copies) and modern instruments. Introduction to the oral tradition of the minstrels. Musical composition. Interpretation and improvisation of old and new instrumental forms.
Voice and instruments
Working out arrangements for small vocal and instrumental groups, covering monodies, timbres, sequences, conducti, motets, lais, rondeaux, ballads and refrains.
Theatre
Adapting music and dances about Seas and Oceans for the stage, including narrative, playlets, production, scenery and costumes.
Dance
Investigating various ways of choreographing the dance music. Reconstruction of festive and ritual dances from the religious, popular and courtly traditions.
Medieval band
A band composed of all suitable medieval instruments will be set up at the start of the course to take part in the various events.
Practical information
Number of participants: 18
Cost: €308 (reductions possible).
Course begins at 2pm on Sunday 29 July.
Course ends at 10am on Saturday 4 August.
Accommodation and meals
Aaccommodation cost for the hole week ion the Island including meals, breakfast and nights : €330,50.
