Dances from John Playford
Dear friends of Baroque music and Baroque dance,
after years of performing early music and connection to period dance we decided as ensemble Les Matelots to produce CD of French and English Baroque-dance music. Our goal is not just to please the listener's ears, but to bring you music which fits perfectly to dance.
Liebe Freunde der Barockmusik und des Barocktanzes,
nach langjähriger Beschäftigung mit Historischer Musizier- und Tanzpraxis haben wir uns als Ensemble Les Matelots entschieden eine CD mit französischer und englischer Tanzmusik aus der Barockzeit aufzunehmen. Unseres Ziel ist es nicht nur den Zuhörer zu erfreuen, sondern auch perfekt tanzbare Musik zu bieten.

Cette 5ème édition sera présidée par Madame Isabelle HÉROUARD, directrice artistique de la compagnie Rzeszowskie et Monsieur Didier LHOTTE directeur artistique de la compagnie Chants et Danses de France en sera l'invité d'honneur. Les compagnies Fêtes d'Hébé, Fantaisies Baroques et Divertissements interviendront durant l'après-midi.
Voici un joli bouquet de ces danses conviviales du 17e s.;
eine Auswahl besonders schöner Tänze des 17. Jh.:
Red House, Shepherd's Holiday, Jamaica (de John Playford)
et pour changer un peu / zur Abwechslung: Courante et l'Allemande du Chandelier.
Il ne faut pas savoir les danses prévues, tout sera montré de zéro, mais il serait favorable de saisir les figures avec facilité.
Mitte des 18. Jahrhunderts verlagerte sich der Geschmack
weg von reinem Pomp und Zeremoniell hin
zur Beschaulichkeit und Natürlichkeit.
Im Volk und den Parlamenten brodelt es..
der Adel ergeht sich in Dekadenz und Lustbarkeiten.
Tanz ist nun ein gesellschaftliches Vergnügen
und weniger ein zeremonieller Akt.
