A group of people who enjoy English Country Dances and try to learn them properly from an experienced tutor. Events include dance seminars, balls, tea afternoons, readings or picknicks. It is all very fresh, many things are still in the making...

The variety and riches of dancing c.1600 will be presented through close study of a balletto by Caroso or Negri, alongside a selection of dances from England and France.
Breaks for tea & coffee (£1 for whole day), and lunch, will be
made at appropriate points in the day. You may bring a packed
lunch. There are several pubs, sandwich bars and cafes in the area.

For 2011 DHDS is introducing the concept of multi-period summer schools, with 3 classes on offer: Cecília's baroque ballroom dance, Jørgen's overview of baroque ballroom dance and Anne's focus on the social dance of Austen's time.
All classes are intermediate, i.e. for dancers with some experience. If you are unsure which class to join or whether a class is for you, please contact the Summer School Administrator.
