History & practice of social dance, its connections with scene dance is an interesting and important theme for dance researches. We'll discuss relationship between styles & dances of different countries & regions; variety of European dance cultures.

The ball will take place in the Ceremonial Hall of the Hofburg Palace, the former residence of the Austrian Emperor.

Historic Ball
In the year 1811 Napoleon Bonaparte makes a trip to The Netherlands. In honour of his visit the Society Revérence organizes a grand ball in Chateau Marquette. All is in readiness: the chandeliers are lit, the orchestra is ready to play, the quests have arrived…..but where is the emperor?

Balltanz „Anno 1900“ in Oberursel
Stilvolles aus Frankreich – wie die Quadrille „Les Variétés Parisiennes“ herausgegeben von der Societé Academique de Danse (erstmal veröffentlicht in Paris 1865) wird in Deutschland um 1885 zum Tanz-Modehit der Ballsaison. Diese Quadrille enthält - und das ist neuartig - die beliebten Paartänze Walzer (in ihrer Spezialform Menuettwalzer), die französische Polka um 1870 und einen Polka-Mazurka-Schritt in ihren Figuren als einen abschließenden Refrainteil zu üblichen Quadrillefiguren.
