Portingaloise Artistic and Cultural Association is dedicated to the dissemination of Early Dance through performative and educational channels, as well as promoting the sharing of scientific research. Regularly holds workshops, masterclasses for amateurs or professionals. Ongoing monthly classes by Portingaloise can be found in both Porto and Lisbon. Since 2015, we annually organize Portingaloise – International Festival of early dance and Music, now in its 10th Edition (2024).
Portingaloise Ensemble is made up of artists with versatile training – dance, music, theater, art history, musical composition – who share a broad interest in the performing arts in the modern era, guided by historically informed interpretation. We are particularly dedicated to so-called hybrid genres that combine different areas and the respective artistic and technical skills of their performers. Among our original creations, highlights are Do Tento à Tentação (2023, with La Floreta_Compañia de Danza Historica and the harpsichordist/organist Fernando Miguel Jalôto), Assembleia Dançante (2022, with Ensemble Alletamento), Balle de las Danças (2021, with videographic direction by Adriana Romero), Marie Sallé, Terpsicore de Haendel (2019, with harpsichordist Fernando Miguel Jalôto), Voyage Imaginaire (2016). These pieces were presented in many different Portuguese festivals and venues such as: Mimesis – Ciclo de Theater and Performing Arts at the University of Coimbra, Festival Cezimbra Antiqua, Music and Other Arts in the Cloisters of the Eborae Mvsica Association, Encontros de Música Antiga de Loulé Francisco Rosado, Armazém 22, Teatro Académico Gil Vicente, Palácio de São Marcos and Museu dos Biscaínhos. In 2016 we created the original contemporary piece KINSKI with presentations in Portugal and France (Ciclo Danses Abritées, Paris, 2018). With special appreciation for the historical informed performance as well for the meeting of early and contemporary dance, Ensemble Portingaloise regularly develops creations or performances in monuments such as Os Gestos Cantam na Dança Libertados (Palácio de São Marcos, Coimbra, 2020), Vi/Ver o Paço (Paço das Escolas da Universidade de Coimbra, 2022), Un Camiño Ben Temperado (Monastery of Santa Maria de Oia, Galicia, 2023). We also participated in the television series Madre Paula on Portuguese National TV (2017) and danced in several concerts with different musical ensmebles, such as: Orquestra Barroca da Esmae, Orquestra Barroca Vigo 430 (Galicia), O Bando de Surunyo, Capella Sanctae Crucis, Ensemble Com.Cordas, Ensemble Alorna, Ensemble I Colori dell' Armonia, Americantiga Ensemble, Orquestra Barroca de Mateus and Musurgia Ensemble.
