Discover the diverse world of early dance and experience the connection between movement, music, and beauty through time at this Midsummer Early Dance and Music Virtual Festival!

Midsummer Eve is one of the spirit nights of the year, when the boundaries between the worlds are the thinnest. Let’s use this magic to travel in time! Though science says it is impossible we will use dance & music as our time travel machine. During this virtual Festival we celebrate the longest day of the year with music and dance from 15th to 20th centuries.

A series of 5 notation reading classes, for different levels, via Zoom. Time zone UK

Weekly Classes Thursdays: A: Beginners/Improvers: 6:45pm-8:15pm; C: Intermediate: 8:30pm-9:30pm.

Series 1) April 15th - May 13th;

Series 2) May 27th -  June 24th;

Series 3) July 8th - August 5th.

„La Baviere“  ist eine kleine Tanzsuite bestehend aus einem Menuett und einer Forlane für ein Solopaar. Das Menuett ist vergleichsweise einfach, die Forlane ist insbesondere eine rhythmische Herausforderung.

Die Zeiten sind:
Samstag 13:15-15:45 und 16:30-19:00 Uhr
Sonntag 10:00-12:30 und 13:30-16:00 Uhr

Ein beliebter Klassiker – das Damensolo „Folie d'Espagne pour femme“ ist von 1700, die Musik ist von Lully, der 1672 den Urtypus schrieb. Die Choreographie erstreckt sich über 6 Variationen mit jeweils 16 Takten. Wobei wir für jede Variation aber nur 8 Schritte erlernen müssen, denn sie werden jeweils mit dem anderen Fuß startend wiederholt.

Wenige Teilnehmer, viel Abstand und viel frische Luft – das ist das Konzept des Barocksommers. Die Sarabande ist von mir besonders gut dokumentiert und eignet sich deshalb sowohl für einen perfekten Einstieg als auch für das „Verstehen lernen“ des Barocktanzes. Neben der Tanzpraxis werde ich auch etwas in das Lesen der Notation einzuführen.

Unterm Lilienwappen des Hauses Bourbon herrschte Ludwig XIV. – mehr Flower Power geht nicht. Die Explosion kreativer Kräfte im Frankreich des Sonnenkönigs wird in Marc-Antoine Charpentiers Musikjuwel »Les Arts Florissans« hymnisch gefeiert. Doch Louis’ Lilie ist eine Schwertlilie, und so muss erst der Frieden die Zwietracht besiegen, ehe die florierenden Künste ihre Schöpferkraft entfalten.

Barock-Tanzworkshop mit Nicolle Klinkeberg

LA BOURGOGNE is the title of a small suite of dances (Courante - Bourée - Sarabande - Passepied) that has been composed by Louis Pécour, the well-known choreographer at the Court of Louis XIV. The reason for it's existence was a wedding ceremony at the French Court: The Duc de Bourgogne (grandson of Louis XIV and aged 15) married Adelaide the princess of Savoye, aged 12. The four dances are short and not too difficult. Bourée and Passepied can be realized as single dances to different music as I will show on the workshop.
