The entertainment “Fragments de Monsieur de Lully” was a patchwork of Lully’s top hits, interwoven with music by Campra and packed full of song and dance. You might call it a baroque version of “The Best of Lully!” Among its colourful characters were heroes, sea nymphs, shepherds – and the ever-popular figures of the Commedia dell’Arte, with its Harlequins and Scaramouches . In this course, we’ll be learning a Forlana from the work, by Pécour, and exploring how the commedia characters might fit into the staging.

Feuillet repertory and improvisation, two weekends in November/December 2010

This is a course aiming at students with a good dance technique, who are well acquainted with the baroque dance repertory and have a basic knowledge in reading Feuillet notation.

Each weekend costs a total of € 450,00 divided by the participants. There is a minimum of 8 participants (which would mean 56€ per person. If there are more than 8 participants, the cost of the course is less).

Au programme : the game of the Hunt of Love--la Caccia d’Amore, and the virtuosic dances from Santucci’s Mastro da ballo : « Pavaniglia », « Galleria d’amore », « Allegrezza d’amore », variations de la Gagliarda.

Barbara is a dance historian specialized in 15th-17th century Italian dance. She is interested in going beyond the of "court dance« "the first ballet » and in placing early dance inits socio-economic and political contexts.

In her teaching of Italian dance she will put the accent on style, music and interpretation.

Ein Rigadoon ohne einen pas de rigaudon - einer von sechs danses à deux des Londoner Tanzmeisters Mr. Isaac aus der von John Weaver 1706 veröffentlichten Collection of Ball-dances Perform'd at Court. Die Musik zu diesen Tänzen stammt von James Paisible.

Das Rigadoon ist nicht zu verwechseln mit einer anderen Chorographie Mr. Isaacs, The Rigadoon Royal, einem seiner Geburtstagstänze für Königin Anne.

Der Kurs kann auch ohne Partner besucht werden. Die Teilnehmer sollten gute Grundkenntnisse in barockem Schrittmaterial mitbringen
