This is the third module of a series. After reviewing the previously studied characters, the workshop will focus on typical "canovacci" of the “Commedia all'Improvviso”. Admission is possible for those that have already attended anonether workshop of the series “Tra danze Maschere e Lazzi”, or by selection through a curriculum.

Barbara holds classes in Baroque Dance in London, around the UK and abroad, for both beginners/elementary and intermediate/advanced students.

Barbara has many years of experience in baroque dance, both as performer and choreographer, as well as teacher of baroque dance. She has taught in Europe, the Baltic Countries and Australia in addition to courses in the UK. She has also taught early dance on the BA (Hons) degree course in Ballet Education at the Royal Academy of Dance in London. As well as baroque dance, she has given courses in baroque gesture for singers.

"Le Vieux Canarye", danse pour un couple, probablement composée avant 1700, cette pièce méconnue emploie un nombre très restreint de pas, au service de la musicalité et de la dynamique rythmique, et combinés dans une écriture spatiale riche.
Nous explorerons aussi le "caractère" de cette danse, avec différents types de coordinations de bras.

Le travail de cette session sera axé sur l'interprétation d'une scène de danse pantomime tirée du manuscrit Ferrère (1782), Pas de trois des deux soldats et de la villageoise, où chaque personnage a son mot à ne pas dire !!

Chacun pourra puiser dans son vécu d'interprète pour s'ouvrir à, ou se perfectionner dans une autre facette de cet art complexe qui mêle danse et théâtre muet.

The entertainment “Fragments de Monsieur de Lully” was a patchwork of Lully’s top hits, interwoven with music by Campra and packed full of song and dance. You might call it a baroque version of “The Best of Lully!” Among its colourful characters were heroes, sea nymphs, shepherds – and the ever-popular figures of the Commedia dell’Arte, with its Harlequins and Scaramouches . In this course, we’ll be learning a Forlana from the work, by Pécour, and exploring how the commedia characters might fit into the staging.

Feuillet repertory and improvisation, two weekends in November/December 2010

This is a course aiming at students with a good dance technique, who are well acquainted with the baroque dance repertory and have a basic knowledge in reading Feuillet notation.
