Jane Austen Dancers of Bath

The 1995 BBC version of Pride and Prejudice and the Ball at Netherfield where Mr Darcy danced with Miss Elizabeth Bennet, inspired the Jane Austen Dancers of Bath to be founded in 1996 – the first and foremost Regency dance group in Bath and the UK.

The Jane Austen Dancers of Bath hold regular classes in this beautiful Georgian City where Jane Austen made her home between 1801 and 1806 and also set Persuasion and Northanger Abbey, two of her published novels.

In our classes we provide the opportunity to learn how to dance, and find out more about the etiquette, the fashion, the history and the social customs of the Regency and late Georgian period - all of which has been extensively researched by Elspeth Reed and Liz Bartlett from original sources.

We hold an annual Ball and special classes for events such as The Jane Austen Festival and Pride & Prejudice Tours. Also we frequently participate in film and TV projects and private & public functions/parties/balls/hen parties.

We would like to extend a warm welcome to you all to join us in our classes or at one of our events soon.

I BALLI PER CRISTINA DI LORENA - Laura Suave e gli Intermedii della Pellegrina

17-18 gennaio e 14 -15 marzo 2015

Summer School Florentine Intermedii for La Pellegrina (1589)

La Pellegrina (25 years in the Czech Republic in 2015!) offers this wonderful and unique summer school, where instrumentalists, singers and dancers will happily integrate, work together and perform the Florentine Intermedii, at the time intermezzi for the stage play La Pellegrina, but even then more popular than the lengthy play itself.

Dancers will work on late 16th-century dance style and rehearse the period choreographies created by Dorothée Wortelboer. During the second half of the course they will also rehearse together with the instrumental ensemble and/or individual singers and tutti rehearsals will be held in order to put the Intermedii together for two public rehearsals in the beautiful Renaissance hall of Bechynĕ castle.

The course is led by an enthusiastic and experienced team of tutors, all specialists in the field of Renaissance and Baroque music and dance.

For further details please visit www.pellegrina.nl, dancers may also contact Dorothée Wortelboer directly. A reduction on the course fees is given if you register before March 1st.
