Opatija once belonged to the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. Till the I. World War its name was Abbazia.

The establishment of Abbazia started in 1844 when Villa Angiolina was built on the seaside by Higinio Scarpa, an italian businessman. But the real booming of the seaside resort came only  later with the expansion of the railway network in the Monarchy. By the end of the 19. century countless villas and hotels had been built for the entertainment of the aristocracy and the bourgeois societies.

In diesem Wochenendkurs erarbeiten wir uns eine Choreographie von Lieven Baert für fünf Tänzer bzw. Tänzerinnen zu dem Tanz-Madrigal „Tirsi und Clori“ von Monteverdi. Voraussetzung für die Teilnahme an diesem Workshop sind Kenntnisse in italienischer Renaissance-Schritttechnik (Caroso, Negri).

The 200 Dances Project, run by RegencyDances.org in partnership with the Early Dance Circle, has raised funds to create authentic recordings of music for dances from the late Georgian to the Regency era.

We are now looking for musicians to make the recordings.

This is an internationally prestigious project in which those awarded a contract will receive publicity, a recording fee and a share in the sales revenue.
