'The Legend of Queen Jadwiga' based on a story by L. Rydel

Based on a vivid text by Lucjan Rydel, the performance illustrates a few scenes from the life of Jadwiga d'Anjou. Among others, it recounts the story of her coronation at the Wawel Royal Castle in Krakow and the marriage to king Władysław Jagiełło. The performance conjures up the image of Queen Jadwiga as a strong and bold woman much aware of her obligations towards the state and the subjects, while at the same time not devoid of youthful feelings and emotions.

‘The Coffee Ballet’ (J.S. Bach) falls within the tradition of ballets with fanciful and exotic subjects staged in the 17th and 18th centuries. Created on the basis of steps and figures of Baroque dance, as well as elements of the pantomime of the day, this humorous performance alludes to the fashion of drinking what was an original beverage at that time. Dancers perform in fantastic costumes reminiscent of parts of a coffee service whose shapes resemble, amongst others, the famous 18th century Dresden porcelain. February, 16th 2014 at 5PM
