The Early Dance Circle has prepared a special programme of dance and music composed by Ignatius Sancho (c. 1729 – 14.12.1780) on 14 December 2020.
Sancho is famous nowadays as a man of letters and the first African to vote in a British election. But now you can look forward to reconstructions of Sancho’s choreographies and music by the Hampshire Regency Dancers, Quadrille Club and Green Ginger, as well as discussions and interviews with some knowledgeable experts on his career:

Dear colleagues,
I'm happy to announce that the New Collection of Dances - Nouveau Recueil de Danses series has been launched.
Recapturing the 18th-century tradition of publishing yearly collections of dances, Mercurius Company brings the first volume 'MMXX - Restoration Theatre'.
Containing 16 choreographies (most of which in theatrical style) by Ricardo Barros, set to music by Purcell and Locke.
124 pages, printed on 120gsm textured paper, containing introduction/avant propos and choreographer's notes on performance.
The Förderverein für historischen Tanz e.V. (Association for Supporting Historical Dance) in Munich calls on researchers who wish to present new findings on practical dance history online (total duration including audience questions approximately 1.5 hours, in English or German). The Förderverein plans to subsequently publish the recordings online. Especially now during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Förderverein wishes to support historical research on dance and therefore offers a 150€ honorarium for each lecture.
