Die französischen Cotillons erfreuten sich im 18. Jahrhundert großer Beliebtheit. Sie sind neben den englischen Longways die zweite Art von Contredanses. Bei den Cotillons tanzen jeweils zwei oder vier Paare in einer Quadrataufstellung zusammen einen Tanz, der nach dem Strophen – Refrain Prinzip funktioniert. Die Strophen werden dabei in der Regel aus einem festen Repertoire einfacher Figuren entnommen, so dass man meist nur den Refrain lernen muss, der den jeweiligen Tanz ausmacht.

A practical course studying 18 / 19th Century Dance researched and taught by Jørgen Schou-Pedersen, who has a long and distinguished career in researchingand teaching dances of many periods.

Beginners and Intermediate

The Bourée d’Achille, choreographed by Pécour, was first published in 1700. It is one of the simplest notated dances for a couple, making it ideal for dancers at beginner and intermediate levels.
For beginners the course offers an introduction to the baroque dance step repertoire. For intermediate dancers, the opportunity to coordinate the baroque port de bras confidently with the steps.

Seven days of baroque dance in an exclusive interaction with the renowned Ringve International Summer Course in Early Music.

The course includes a daily warm-up and dance class based on historical dance techniques, repertoire classes, Feuillet notation, live music, cooperation with the music course, evening country dance classes, daily concerts and student performance in Trondheim.
