Norwich Historical Dance was formed in 1984. We are a collection of enthusiasts brought together by a love of the music, costume and dance of past centuries. Our aims are to promote and preserve the knowledge of Early Dance, its place in our cultural heritage, and to enable the enjoyment of such dance by members of the group and the general public. As far as possible the group employ live music, often with period instruments, for their performances with musicians like 'Hexachordia', also in costume.

Jahrhunderts in Mode waren. Nicht weniger kostbar und ebenso vielfältig wie diese Sammlungen sind auch die Tänze der Renaissance und des Frühbarock!

This conference will explore the rich connections of dance with other arts -- Terpsichore's links with all her other sisters among the Muses and even beyond.
Join us for dinner on Friday night, followed by an exciting performance and the first workshop. Saturday and Sunday will offer papers and workshops, along with dancing to live music on Saturday evening (no cosume required and all dances called). Come and enjoy a country house weekend among fellow dancers, dance historians and others.

We invite you to come to discuss Belle Dance as alive art. Would the so called baroque dance be a dead art? Formal? Exceeded? To forget? Can a style of past reveal the dance? In the Cycle " These gestures which say it more than the words " to celebrate, among others festivities, on the 40 years of the Center Mandapa, come to envisage the body movements/gestures of the dance in Belle Dance.
Ces gestes qui en disent plus que les mots !

The Relationships between Dance and other Arts
The Call for Papers has already gone out for next year’s Biennial Conference, under the stewardship of Barbara Segal. The range of topics should be wide, offering many a chance for our learned speakers to place early dance in its cultural context on all fronts.
