Due to the current health crisis and despite our attachment to the Tapis Vert in Normandy and the welcome of Jean Galodé, its director, the 6th edition of the summer courses of historical dance organized by CHESTNUT will take place this year in Paris.

Discover the diverse world of early dance and experience the connection between movement, music, and beauty through time at this Midsummer Early Dance and Music Virtual Festival!

Midsummer Eve is one of the spirit nights of the year, when the boundaries between the worlds are the thinnest. Let’s use this magic to travel in time! Though science says it is impossible we will use dance & music as our time travel machine. During this virtual Festival we celebrate the longest day of the year with music and dance from 15th to 20th centuries.

Quadrillen und Formationstänze des 19. Jh.

Wahrlich, da hat er Recht, der Geheimrat Goethe – von ihm stammt das Zitat! Um eine möglichst gute Figur dabei abzugeben, wollen wir an vier Abenden etwas intensiver in die Tanzkunst des 19. Jh. einsteigen. Neben neuen Figuren und Formen wird auch Gelegenheit sein, rhythmische Finessen und Schrittvariationen kennenzulernen – auch bei solch vermeintlich bekannten Tänzen wie dem Walzer.

Venez découvrir les danses de bal et de société du 19e siècle, dansées du Second Empire à la Belle Epoque. Valse, polka, mazurka, quadrilles... toutes ces belles danses ne seront plus un secret pour vous.

Nous aborderons les pas de bases de ces danses de couple et de quadrille. Nous continuerons à apprendre le quadrille français, que tout bon danseur doit savoir avant d'aller au bal.

For the 2019 Winter Ball we return to the end of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th century. In France it was the time of the revolution, Napoleon and his Empire, in England the period of the Regency.
