"L'Europe Galante" – a course for Campra's 350th anniversary year, taught by Jane Gingell.

In 1697, Campras’s opera-ballet “L’Europe Galante” caused a sensation, with its sumptuous scenes set in a Spanish Garden, a Venetian Carnival and a Turkish Harem.

Zu einer Melodie aus der Oper Hésione (1701) von André Campra schuf Louis Guillaume Pécour die Choreographie einer eleganten Loure, die zu einem der beliebtesten Tänze des 18. Jahrhunderts wurde. Im Universal-Lexicon aller Wissenschaften und Künste (1732) wird der Aimable Vainqueur als einer von fünf Tänzen erwähnt, die "ein junger Mensch" unbedingt beherrschen sollte, um im Ballsaal bestehen zu können. Er blieb bis zum Ende des 18. Jahrhunderts populär.

Wie bei allen unseren Workshops brauchen Sie keinen Partner mitzubringen.

Beide Tänze sind für 2 Paare choreographiert und kommen mit wenigen Schrittvariatonen aus. Sie eignen sich daher besonders für Barocktanzeinsteiger, mit und ohne Vorkenntnisse im barocken Schrittrepertoire.

Fortgeschrittene können in diesem Kurs ihr Repertoire an einfachen Balltänzen erweitern und finden außerdem Gelegenheit, eigene Schrittvariationen in bestehende Tanzstrukturen einfließen zu lassen.

Etroitement liée à la musique baroque, tant par la chronologie que par le style, la danse baroque évolue dans le cadre du „merveilleux“, que ce soit dans le ballet de la cour, la tragédie en musique ou l'opéra-ballet.
Dénommée à l'époque la „belle danse“, elle a été remise au goût du jour par des chercheurs et des historiens de la danse qui ont réhabilité un art et un style de danse que le ballet classique et romantique avaient simplifié et uniformisé.
