Wir laden Anfänger und mit historischen Tänzen vertraute Tänzer zu einem besonderen Ereignis ein: Ein Samstagnachmittag und Abend mit leicht zu lernenden, abwechslungsreichen und sehr unterhaltsamen Kreis- und Gassentänzen aus der französischen Renaissance (Thoinot Arbeau "Orchesografie") und dem englischen Frühbarock (John Playford “The English Dancing Master”). Alle Tänze werden angeleitet, so dass auch Anfänger gut mitkommen können. Der Nachmittag ist zum Üben gedacht, der Abend zum entspannten Genießen der Tänze.
Unseren Playford-Ball haben wir nach dem Londoner Verleger John Playford benannt, der erstmals 1651 eine Sammlung von Tänzen mit dem Titel “The English Dancing Master “ heraus gab, in der viele “Country Dances “ beschrieben wurden. Dies waren beliebte und oft getanzte Gassen-, Kreis- oder Vierpaar-Tänze, die schon zu Zeiten von Shakespeare und Königin Elisabeth I. (16. Jahrh.) Eingang am englischen Hof gefunden hatten.
Scottish-Australian composer Alex F. Lithgow and the Italian Paolo Giorza – both active in late 19th and early 20th century Australia with a wide success attested by the abundance of printed editions of their pieces – will be the highlights in an afternoon between music and dance with the Orchestra da Ballo de Il Teatro della Memoria, an ensemble directed by Andrea Toschi and specialized in the performance of the Salon Orchestra repertory.
