All the workshops are intended for dancers with basic experience of historical dance.

Canario, der "Charleston" des 16. Jahrhunderts, ist – wie die Gaillarde – ein improvisatorischer Tanz, bei dem rhythmisch anspruchsvolles Stampfen der Füße ein wichtiges Element ist.

Nach Arbeau sind die Schrittpassagen fröhlich, seltsam und fantastisch, mit einem starken barbarischen Anstrich, und wie manche sagen, ist der Tanz auf den Kanarischen Inseln verbreitet. Arbeau beschreibt auch eine Maskerade mit Tänzern, die als Könige und Königinnen von Mauretanien oder wie Wilde in bunt gefärbten Federn gekleidet sind.

Julia Sutton, musicologist and dance historian, died peacefully in a nursing home on July 1 after a short illness. She was professor emerita of New England Conservatory of Music, where she served as chair of the Music History/Musicology department for over twenty years as well as teaching in the Performance of Early Music department and directing the Collegium Terpsichore. Markus Lehner wrote that she was "one of the great scholars of historical dance."
