In this anniversary year of ‘Pride and Prejudice’, Jane Austen’s most celebrated novel, why not step back 200 years for a truly memorable experience?
Scottish-Australian composer Alex F. Lithgow and the Italian Paolo Giorza – both active in late 19th and early 20th century Australia with a wide success attested by the abundance of printed editions of their pieces – will be the highlights in an afternoon between music and dance with the Orchestra da Ballo de Il Teatro della Memoria, an ensemble directed by Andrea Toschi and specialized in the performance of the Salon Orchestra repertory.

Mit diesem Workshop wird die Kursreihe von 2012 zu “100 Jahre BAD Homburg v.d. Höhe” mit Gesellschaftstänzen des späten 19. Jahrhunderts bis zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts fortgesetzt. Die verschiedenen Balltänze aus der Kaiserzeit beinhalten eine speziell aus der Kurstadt und für Bad Homburg v.d. Höhe komponierte Musik sowie Noten der Tanzschule Wilhelm Drangsal, Bad Homburg v.d. Höhe.
Neben der großartigen Quadrille „Les Lanciers“ werden uns der "Frühlingsboten-Walzer" und weitere Tänze zu begeistern wissen.

Ann Hinchliffe has danced, played, taught, sung and created processions with more festivals, bands, morris sides and clubs than there are candles on her birthday cake. Against a background of fifty years folk-dancing, she specialises in music for disabled people, storytelling and English historical dance. Ann trains with Dolmetsch Historical Dance Society and is Historical Dancing Master at Barrington Court (National Trust), near her home in south west UK.

Alan Davies unterrichtet Engliche Tänze in mehreren Ländern Europas. Mit der speziellen Form englischer Gruppentänze befasst er sich schon seit mehreren Jahrzehnten. Er ist Choreograf und organisiert in England seit Jahren Fortbildungen und längere Summer-Schools zur Pflege englischer Country Dances.
Die reizvolle Vielfalt der Kontratänze von Playford bis heute werden wir mit Variationen im Rhythmus, in den Figuren und in den Formationen kennen lernen und ausführlich üben.

Von Jacob Grimm ist bekannt, dass er in seiner Studentenzeit in Marburg (1802 - 1804) gern getanzt hat. Im „Hofmännischen Saal“ in der Reitgasse 5 hat er sich an den „Marburger Touren“ „divertiert“ (= erfreut) und sie auch in Hanau als Vortänzer angeführt. Auch wird berichtet, dass er Walzer und den im Nordhessischen populären „Schwälmer“ mit seinen charakteristischen Galoppschritten tanzte, der zu Jacobs Marburger Zeit wahrscheinlich erstmals schriftlich erwähnt wurde.

Join in daily morning dance workshop, explore caves, rest or join in costume workshops in the afternoon, and attend costume balls in the evening after dinner. All music for the workshops and balls is provided by professional musicians. This costumed event is open to only 40 participants and tickets are on sale already.
