Historic Ball

In the year 1811 Napoleon Bonaparte makes a trip to The Netherlands. In honour of his visit the Society Revérence organizes a grand ball in Chateau Marquette. All is in readiness: the chandeliers are lit, the orchestra is ready to play, the quests have arrived…..but where is the emperor?

Présentation
L'Association Rotruenge propose un long Week-End d'initiation ou perfectionnement aux danses du Moyen-Age, d'après l'antique transmission orale du savoir et du savoir-faire. Ces quatre journées se dérouleront sous forme d'ateliers dirigés par Christophe Deslignes et seront ponctuées de petites conférences sur les témoignages historiques: iconographie, traités, musiques et chroniques. Une démonstration des danses apprises aura lieu le Samedi à partir de 20h.

Pour son troisième stage estival, Bassa Toscana proposera son spectacle de clôture au pied de l’Abbaye Saint-Germain, dont l’équilibre et le raffinement architectural seront l’écrin idéal d’une soirée de danses anciennes. Au moment où la danse devient savante, s’impose également une expression spectaculaire plus libre avec la commedia dell’arte et ses « lazzi ». Lors de la représentation « Pavanes et Menuets pour Isabella », l’improvisation cohabitera avec la danse mise en espace et codifiée des époques de la Renaissance et du Baroque.

El Siglo XVIII es, sin duda alguna, la edad de oro de la Danza Social. Con la nueva dinastía llega la pasión por el espacio colectivo de convivencia y relación que cristaliza en un género fascinante: La Contradanza.

Dance at the English court was influenced by both French and Italian styles, but in this course we'll be looking mainly at English sources, including the Gresley Manuscript and dances from the Inns of Court.

This course is organised for the Gothenburg group Fioretto, but there are a few places left for visitors. The venue is outside Gothenburg - but we can help with organising local transport for any visitors from outside Sweden.

The course will be given in English.

This workshop includes training in baroque dance technique, study of the ‘port de bras’ and working on 18th-century repertoire.

Schedule: Friday 19:00-22:00; Saturday 10:00-18:00; Sunday 10:00-15:00
