Die unvollendete Oper The Indian Queen mit Musik von Henry Purcell wurde 1695 uraufgeführt. Pierre-François Dollé hat für Les Arts Florissants Choreographien zu einzelenen Stücken geschaffen, die wir in diesem Kurs erlernen: eine Hornpipe und die wunderschöne Gavotte We the spirit of the air.

Ein neues Projekt wird aus der Wiege gehoben! Neu ist der Ort, die Jahreszeit, der Veranstalter, das Konzept und der Flyer[1]. Altbewährt sind vor allem die Schätze des Tanzrepertoires, unsere bewährte Ballmusik und meine Wenigkeit.

Daily baroque dance classes from July 12 to 17, all levels, during an early music workshop. It is possible to sign up for several courses (singing or instrument). Concerts and lectures included.

„Der Tanz enthält alles, was zu einer schönen Sprache notwendig ist“, schrieb ein bekannter Tanzmeister aus dem 18. Jahrhundert. Damit meinte er nicht nur das Alphabet der Schritte, sondern auch den Rhythmus der Sätze und den Ausdruck der verschiedenen Tänze. Die vornehme Gesellschaft an den Höfen Europas redete gerne, und widmete sich auch der Tanzsprache voller Hingabe. Große und kleine Feste waren ohne Tanz nicht denkbar. In diesem Kurs werden die barocken Basisschritte erarbeitet und in einfachen Tänzen zu einem ausdrucksreichen Ganzen verbunden.

Vorebereitungswochenende für den 9. Zürcher Barockball:

In der Zeit der Régence (1715-1723) scheinen die urfranzösischen 2-Paar-Cotillons in Paris ihren Siegeszug anzutreten. Kein Wunder: das französische Schrittmaterial beschränkt sich darin auf ein (rasch lernbares) Minimum und das Vokabular ihrer Formensprache ist auch sehr übersichtlich.

- 6 Branles zum Ballbeginn (Branle simple, Branle gay, Branle de Poitou, Branle double de Poitou, Branle double de Montirandé, Gavotte)

- La Gillotte (Reigen für 4 Paare)

- La Bourrée (5 Strophen)

- 4 Lothringer Branles

- Spagnoletta nuova da farsi in tre (Caroso 1581)

- Courante (Arbeau 1589)

- Spanische Pavane (Arbeau 1589)

- Grimstock (Playford 1651)

Wir tanzen überlieferte  Gesellschaftstänze  vergangener Epochen zur Musik des 16. - 19. Jahrhunderts.
Reigen, Kontratänze und Quadrillen sind sehr beliebte Formen und werden paarweise in einer Gruppe getanzt.
