Christian Ludwig Boxbergs Oper in 3 Akten und Prolog "Sardanapalus" wurde 1698 am Ansbacher Hof uraufgeführt und seitdem nicht mehr gespielt. Das Stück handelt vom letzten Herrscher der Assyrer Sardanapalus, der an seiner Luxusgier und seinen Leidenschaften zugrunde geht und sich am Ende des Stückes mit seinen Frauen und Schätzen auf dem Scheiterhaufen selbst verbrennt.

Aux côtés de la danse et de la musique, l’Académie de Sablé fête cette année l’arrivée d’une discipline essentielle de la scène baroque : le théâtre. A présent, ce sont ainsi les trois grandes disciplines baroques qui seront enseignées et, fidèles à ce qui a toujours fait la spécificité et la richesse de l’Académie de Sablé par le passé, ces disciplines se croiseront lors d’ateliers, permettant aux étudiants d’accéder à une formation précisément baroque, c’est-à-dire ouverte aux différentes pratiques de la scène.

Join the Nonsuch Dancers for a fully residential history and dance course this August bank holiday. During four full days of fun you will learn alongside dancers in period costumes, who will lead you onto the dance floor to do everything from circle dances, line dances, ballroom dances, processions and

will include balletti of Caroso, Lupi, Negri and Santucci,  the Canario, Ballo finale from Carallieri's  Rappresentazione di Anima e di Corpo (1600) 

La Bourbon

In this course, we'll be learning Pécour's couple dance "La Bourbon", printed in Gaudrau's dance collection of 1712. We will also do co-ordination exercises and step-work, together with some contredanse for light relief!

This course is suitable for intermediate and advanced students of baroque dance; it is not suitable for beginners.

The course begins on Friday evening and finishes on Sunday afternoon.
