Baroque

For 2011 DHDS is introducing the concept of multi-period summer schools, with 3 classes on offer: Cecília's baroque ballroom dance, Jørgen's overview of baroque ballroom dance and Anne's focus on the social dance of Austen's time.
All classes are intermediate, i.e. for dancers with some experience. If you are unsure which class to join or whether a class is for you, please contact the Summer School Administrator.

Stockholm Baroque Dancers welcomes you to at seminar on Baroque Dance at Drottningholms Slottsteater August 13 at 1:30-3:00 p.m. It will be a discussion about how we create and recreate Baroque dance, the stance we take in relation to sources, and what Baroque dance means to us today.

Tickets are to be pre-booked through dst@dtm.se, and picked up att the Theatre Shop at Drottningholm. Admission 90 kr, free with performance ticket to Les Petits Riens and Don Juan and for students.

How did they dance in 1700?

The Dolmetsch Historical Dance Society offers a series of structured workshops providing a fresh perspective on the foundation of skills, steps and style prescribed by dancing masters of the time.

These workshops will focus on the basic step vocabulary of baroque dance, with a particular emphasis on appropriate style and technique. Contemporary sources will be used, and there will be opportunities to work on sequences from notated ballroom dances of the early 1700s.

Am 17. und 18. Sept. 2011 veranstaltet der Churfürstliche Hofstaat Schwetzingen e.V. im Bassermannhaus in Schwetzingen, Marstallstraße einen Workshop für barocken Tanz für Tänzer mit Erfahrung.

Tanz spielte am Hofe Ludwigs XIV eine entscheidende Rolle. Der Sonnenkönig war selbst ein hervorragender Tänzer und förderte diese Kunstform in besonderer Weise. Mit dem bekannten Barocktänzer Niels Badenhop lassen wir musikalisch, mit Kostüm und mit Gesten ein Stück Versailles wieder auferstehen. Das Konzert beginnt um 17.30h.
