John Playford's 'Dancing Master' books spanned 1650 to 1728. In that time, English social dances metamorphosed from earthy Tudor origins to French-influenced elegance -- or did they? Spend a lively day learning well-known and less well-known Playford dances, with the steps that people of the time would have danced. Led by friendly tutors from the Historical Dance Society.  A great work-out for brains and legs!

La pratique de six heures par jour en danse et en musique historique durant la semaine de stage a pour finalité, à la fois la découverte et la maîtrise de ces disciplines, mais surtout l'élaboration d'une représentation publique réunissant amateurs et professionnels sur scène.

Le spectacle "Allegro Legato" évoquera la rencontre entre l'Art chorégraphique et l'Art culinaire. Le thème d'un banquet festif, dont la mise en bouche se situera au XVème siècle et le dessert au XVIIIème siècle, offrira aux danses historiques leur place d'entremets.

Der Hoftanzmeister Johann Raab lässt uns in seiner Mazur-Quadrille (1842) zur Musik des Hofballmusikdirektors Philipp Fahrbach viel Spielraum in der Schrittauswahl. Konversationstänze, Walzer, Polka, die Polka-Mazurka L’Alliance und Teile des Körs komplettieren das Repertoire der Tanzunterhaltungen in den ehemaligen kaiserlichen Jagdgebieten in Kostümen der Zeit.             

The aim of our summer school is to provide people with the time to study a range of dances, to improve dancing ability and confidence, and to have fun in good company. The full course (with Markus Lehner or Anne Daye) provides an in-depth dance experience while the weekend courses (with Markus Lehner, Anne Daye or Robert Huggett) are perfect for those with less time available or those just wanting to try out dancing of this period. You do not need to come with a dance partner.

An intensive Cinquecento dance weekend taught by Claudia Celi

The Wheel of Fortune, that among the Arcanes evokes changes in the cycle of life, was an image dear to the culture and reflects itself on the music and the dance of the period. It will be the inspiration for a weekend workshop featuring the dances of the Cinquecento reconstructed according to the treatises by dance masters.

Der sechste historische Tanzball am Biedermeierstrand findet wieder im Rahmen des Biedermeierstrandfestes statt. In diesem Jahr soll er den Komponisten Johann Strauß Vater (1804-1849) und Sohn (1825–1899) gewidmet sein, die durch das 19. Jahrhundert hinweg durch ihre Tanzmusik beide den Titel „Walzerkönig“ erhielten. Der Sohn – welcher in diesem Jahr 200 Jahre alt geworden wäre – ist zudem für seine Operetten, wie z.B. „Die Fledermaus“ oder „Eine Nacht in Venedig“ bekannt.

2025 findet unser Sommerseminar für Barocktanz in Seitenstetten zum 20. Mal statt.

Für dieses „kleine Jubiläum“ haben wir - auch passend zum Kursort im schönen Mostviertel - ein Österreich-Thema gewählt:

„Tu felix Austria salta – Du, glückliches Österreich, tanze!“

Pia Brocza, Niels Badenhop und Bernd Niedecken werden insgesamt 6 Vormittags- und Nachmittagskurse für Anfänger und Fortgeschrittene anbieten.

Theodorus Franciscus Petersen veröffentlichte 2 Tanzlehrbücher mit Gassen- und Vierpaartänzen: 1768 in Hamburg und 1791 in Schleswig. Die Choreographien aus dem früheren Band haben Namen wie „Der Fröhliche“ und „Die egyptischen Pyramiden“, die späteren sind einfach nur durchnummeriert. An diesem Nachmittag wollen wir uns einige dieser geselligen Gruppentänze vornehmen.

Dieser Workshop richtet sich alle, die Spaß am Tanzen haben.
