Düstere Zeiten in Florenz – Francesco, der despotische Großherzog von Toskana, hat nur allzu kurz nach dem Tod von Johanna von Österreich seine Maitresse Bianca Cappello zur Ehefrau gemacht. Für die ungeliebten Töchter von Francesco, Eleonore und Maria, bedeutet das nichts Gutes. Wann werden die Kinder der venezianischen Schönheit sie vom Hof verdrängen? Auch Kardinal Ferdinando, Bruder und bis jetzt nächster Erbe des Großherzogs, sieht dunkle Wolken über Florenz aufziehen. Was, wenn Bianca bald einen männlichen Erben präsentieren würde?

A practical course in 15th Century Dance with emphasis on style and presentation with Jorgen Schou-Pederson at Belsey Bridge Conference Centre

Set in a peaceful rural location in Ditchingham near Bungay in Suffolk., the course will run  from 5.30 pm on Friday 10th April to 4 pm on Sunday 12th April. Saturday afternoon will be free.

Accommodation is for two nights with all meals included.

Popular Renaissance balletti (1560–1614), each one described by several masters, drawing on the accounts by Caroso, Negri, Santucci, Arbeau and the Vatican manuscript.

Cost: £10 per workshop; £5 for each half of the regency workshops. Booking is not required.

There will be a break during the afternoon for tea and coffee.

Participants are advised to wear loose comfortable clothing and shoes with a soft, flexible sole.

Du XVe siècle à la Renaissance, nous connaissons essentiellement la danse de cour. Bien danser, savoir chanter et jouer d’un instrument permettaient de tenir avec grâce et dignité son rang dans la société. La Renaissance en musique et en danse est caractérisée par l’introduction dans le registre courtois de formes et d’éléments populaires. C’est ainsi qu’une part importante est accordée aux rondes, facteur de convivialité et de cohésion sociale.

A Workshop by Hazel Dennison, covering dances from the 15th century Italian repertoire

The workshop will cover material from the following dances all of which are from the 15thC Italian repertoire and are built around the concept of possession and jealousy:

Pour y parvenir, vous serez encadrés par une quinzaine d’artistes professionnels spécialisés. Leurs pratiques chorégraphiques, musicales, vocales, instrumentales et de lutheries puisent leurs sources dans les répertoires des époques du haut Moyen-âge, de la Renaissance et du Baroque.

Basic steps and arms codes for all, to realize then various Bawl sequences movements (pas de gavotte, de menuet, de bourrée, chassés, balancés, etc,) and patterns and study of a choreography.
