Quadrillen und Formationstänze des 19. Jh.

Wahrlich, da hat er Recht, der Geheimrat Goethe – von ihm stammt das Zitat! Um eine möglichst gute Figur dabei abzugeben, wollen wir an vier Abenden etwas intensiver in die Tanzkunst des 19. Jh. einsteigen. Neben neuen Figuren und Formen wird auch Gelegenheit sein, rhythmische Finessen und Schrittvariationen kennenzulernen – auch bei solch vermeintlich bekannten Tänzen wie dem Walzer.

Die französischen Cotillons erfreuten sich im 18. Jahrhundert großer Beliebtheit. Sie sind neben den englischen Longways die zweite Art von Contredanses. Bei den Cotillons tanzen jeweils zwei oder vier Paare in einer Quadrataufstellung zusammen einen Tanz, der nach dem Strophen – Refrain Prinzip funktioniert. Die Strophen werden dabei in der Regel aus einem festen Repertoire einfacher Figuren entnommen, so dass man meist nur den Refrain lernen muss, der den jeweiligen Tanz ausmacht.

For those who have never been to our Regency Weekend before, here is an outline of the weekend's activities.  I cannot confirm venues at this early stage except for the ball at Palazzo Manresa, information on which is attached.
Friday usually starts with a visit to a vineyard and wine-tasting with finger food. In the evening there will be the dance workshop (5-8pm) followed by supper.

 Early Dance Weekend 2020

A practical course studying 18 / 19th Century Dance researched and taught by Jørgen Schou-Pedersen, who has a long and distinguished career in researchingand teaching dances of many periods.
