Der Workshop umfasst ein intensives Training des Schrittmaterials aus Barock und Rokoko. Zu Musik von Johann Friedrich Fasch werden Choreographien erarbeitet, die die Charakteristika dreier unterschiedlicher Tänze (Gavotte, Air, Hornpipe) umsetzen.

Der diesjährige workshop Barocktanz an der Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt am Main widmet sich dem Geburtstagskind Friedrich II. und seinem Geschmack in musikalischer und tänzerischer Hinsicht. Wir versuchen wieder zwei Gruppen zu machen, damit sowohl Anfänger, wie auch Fortgeschrittene in den Genuß kommen den Stil um 1750 zu erlernen. Der Kurs geht über drei 1/2 Tage und endet mit einer öffentlichen Abschlußveranstaltung in der Hochschule am Montag Abend.

After dinner you can join a dance evening in the Neo-Gothic Aula. If you cannot dance, do not worry as the steps will be taught on the spot. The Georgian Ball is hosted annually by Bath Minuet Company and has become a highlight of the early dance calendar.

The Guildhall in Bath continues to provide the perfect setting for this event which draws enthusiasts and practitioners of historic dance from across the UK.

A dance workshop is held on the afternoon preceding the ball for the benefit of persons wishing to attend and to assist those with perhaps less dance experience.

Booking form

The ball in the French tradition of the first half of XVIII century. Numerous country dances and other popular dances alternate with dances for one pair (according to Rameau's discription).

We expect from guests to be suited in the appropriate noble dress of 1700-1770's.

The ball will take place on February 19, 2012.
Ticket cost is 1000 rubles before the ball and 1200 rubles on the ball.

The 14th Oxford Dance Symposium will address a wide range of issues on dancing in the European theatre in the long 18th century. Although we welcome papers on dance music in the theatre and the performance of dance in opera, it is proposed to cover topics such national trends, dancer biography, dance and magic, the development of dance costumes, theatre design, and dance iconography.

We seek papers of 20 minutes, with abstracts of approximately 200 words. Powerpoint presentations are welcome.

An Introduction to Magri

In this course, taught by Jane Gingell, we'll be exploring social dance styles from Magri's Trattato of 1779, including contradanza, minuet, and step sequences from his version of Aimable Vainqueur, "Amabile".
The course level is general, but students will need to have at least a little experience of baroque dance, or other dance style with arm movements (ballet, flameco etc).

The course runs from Friday evening to 16.00 on Sunday.
