Although related in style to the dances collected by John Playford, those of Thomas Bray (1699) were probably designed for the stage and as a result, their unusual patterns show a marked sense of drama. The combination of their complex patterns with elegant steps makes them a joy to dance. They pose something of a challenge for more experienced dancers, while at the same time providing a rewarding experience for everyone.
