Quattrocento

Dances from the 14th century, e.g. Domenico di Piacenza

Rescheduled from Jun 4

Taught by Chieko ONO
Director of the renaissance dance company Belreguardo

Saint-Petersburg Historical Dance Club is in fact a successor of many dancing communities of Saint-Petersburg, both having names or nameless that used to involve and unite those, who have been keen on studying and recreating ancient dances for more than 10 years already. Since February 2001 till August 2006 all groups of the Club were part of Historical Dance School “Villanella”. We opened new academic year 2006-2007 in a new kind.

How did they dance in the 1450s? The Dolmetsch Historical Dance
Society offers a series of structured workshops providing a fresh
perspective on the foundation of skills, steps and style prescribed by dancing masters of the time.

In this workshop, the second in the series, Hazel Dennison will teach balli and bassadanze from the Italian sources of Domenico and Ebreo.
Studies will focus on steps, style and embellishment within each of
the four misure. Dances will be placed in a wider cultural context.
Beginners and improvers welcome, alongside more experienced dancers.
