Workshop on English dance and its music from the Tudor period (approximately 16th century). All abilities welcome, but the day is designed particularly for people new to historical dance and music. 

You don't need a partner, nor costume, nor previous experience. You should wear loose comfortable clothing and flexible footwear. You can choose to dance or to play (any portable acoustic instrument). Music will be provided for those who can read it. 

1100h-1300h workshop: English dancing around 1630. £8. 

1330h-1430h lecture: English social and political views of dance in the early 17th century. £5. 

Led by Dr Anne Daye, Director of Research and Education, Historical Dance Society; with members of Herts Early Dance Group. No previous experience necessary; a pleasant and interesting day for everyone, in a fine English mansion and gardens.

The annual HDS summer school this features The Lords Masque of 1613: an exploration of performance in dance and music, led by specialist tutors. There are dance coures and a musician's course.

It takes place at Stonyhurst College, near Preston in England from 5th - 12th August, and is a special opportunity to gain insight into the realization of Campion's text and the surviving music.

Tanzworkshop 25.3.2018

Der Workshop richtet sich an Anfänger und Fortgeschrittene, Jung und Alt, Männlein wie Weiblein. 

Tanzkenntnisse sind nicht Voraussetzung.
Eine paarweise Anmeldung ist nicht nötig.
Es kann in Gewandung getanzt werden, muss aber nicht.
Wechselschuhe (Tanzschuhe) werden empfohlen.

Historisches Tanzen bei der SCA…

.. auch bekannt als rhythmisches Laufen zu alter Musik, denn die Tänze des späten Mittelalters und der Renaissance (bis 1650) unterscheiden sich auf viele Arten von dem, was wir heute in Tanzschulen lernen. Jeder kann mitmachen, denn alle tanzen mit allen. Bequeme Kleidung und Schuhe reichen zum Üben aus; schöner und stimmiger ist es natürlich in Gewandung, wer solche hat. Ihr dürft gerne Freunde einladen; der Raum reicht für allerdings nur für max. 20 Personen. Wer sich anmeldet, kommt sicherlich zum Tanzen!
 

This workshop presents the Spanish baroque dance style. We will learn the basic steps and some variations of Jácara (sister of the Sarabande) and La Pavana. It is addressed to students of different levels. For those who already have some experience, the workshop is a continuation of the practice and an opportunity to get deeper into the style. Those who never tried this style are also welcome.
Students who play castanets or who would like to learn are invited to bring their own.
